New Sofa Broken

Bought a new motorized recliner in 12/20 with extended warranty. By March 2021 one side had stopped reclining. Called support and they sent a repair man out. He said the motor needed to be replaced and would take 3 months to arrive. So it's now 7/28/21 and the sofa is still broken. They were supposed to come back out yesterday but the part was not there for the repairman to pickup.

User's recommendation: Don't shop here ever.

Scratch on hutch

They sent a text notifying me of the date and time range (9/1/2020, 4 pm-7 pm) to expect the delivery. Day of delivery arrives, they call 4 hrs ahead of the scheduled time and say they are on the way to make the delivery. I didn't answer b/c I was in a meeting. 2 hours...

Terrible on repair warantees

I am 80 years old. My husband is 85 and very disabled. We purchased a reclining-lift chair for him as he can not stand up after sitting, on his own. I purchased a 5 year repair warantee on the chair. We have had big problems with it for some time, now. A month or more ago, I called repair. They came and decided they needed to order parts to repair it. I have called and am not allowed to talk to anyone in management. Today, I called again. I was told sometimes it takes up to 90 DAYS to obtain a repair. I told them this wasn't a lamp or such. It is a VERY much NEEDED lift chair, a necessity! I was told the parts were in and the repair had told them they called me. I did NOT receive a call or a message! I am still waiting. This is not a luxury item; it is a necessity!!! Surely a company as well known and as big as Star Furniture could do much better than this. I feel HELPLESS! If the chair completely goes out on it after jerking and making weird sounds, what am I to do? I will not be able to get my husband out of the chair.

User's recommendation: Before you purchase an extended warantee, ask how long it may take in order to obtain service.

Never purchase 'extended warranties'. They are cash cows for the 'provider'.

Think 'insurance company' ; we will put you back to where you were yesterday before the screw fell out, not a new chair.

Disabled status is meaningless ; full payment by anyone should result in proper service. There are no special perks.

Thanks. I feel a reputable company would honor its' policies in a timely manner! I have purchased furniture from them many times over the years.

Not pleased with customer service

I purchased a dining table and chairs 24 months ago. I also purchased the Guardian insurance coverage. We noticed the laminated top on the table had bubbled and separating at a seam. I placed a claim with Guardian which was denied saying it wasn't damaged it separated. I contacted Star's customer service and included pictures. I was told to expect a call from a supervisor each day for 5 days. No one called. I called again and was told water seeped into the top causing the bubbling. They would not repair or replace. I had no options.

User's recommendation: I would not be able to reccomend their store after this experience.

MISLEADING ADVERTISEMENT

We spent close to $12,000 in Star Furniture. That "FREE TV" Star Furn is giving away as a "gift" is from Wal-Mart. We "qualified" for the 60" tv so we are receiving a Wal-Mart brand tv valued at $399. The rep said "65" smart tv from Best Buy". You've been warned!!

Customer Service?? What a JOKE!!!

We received our furniture on Sat 9/4. Thank God on the day of the delivery we discovered that the motor in one of the chairs was not working. If it was discovered after the driver left we would have been stuck with a recliner that didn't recline. Hilarious right?? The entertainment center that we purchased was delivered to us with a big crack on the inside of the drawer that I'm pretty sure was there before they even left the warehouse. Given the response we've gotten from there so called CS ( I can't even say the words) dept regarding this issue they probably thought that we would never see it until it was too late. That's exactly what happened. This piece is sitting in the same spot that the driver set it. As we weren't quite ready to put it to use. Four days after delivery we saw the defect. Their response was "Since the issue wasn't found when we delivered it, we don't know exactly what happened... so too bad so sad." When i asked to speak to a supervisor the representative kept asking "why do you need to speak to a supervisor? Speak to a supervisor in regards to what?" *** So, I've been speaking to you for an hour and you don't know what this is in regards to??? One star is too good of a rating for them. The entire company gets ZERO stars from me. DO NOT EVER BUY FROM STAR FURNITURE. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!

Customer Care (JOKE)

So had a problem with some furniture we bought called the so called Customer Care. So we can’t set a time was told I’d receive call the day before. Yeah received that call at 7 pm the night before. Like we don’t have work, careers or plans. Never again Star Furniture.

We originally ordered Craftmaster furniture in March 2019 thru Star Furniture in Houston, and to date, no satisfaction. The 1st order, received in May, the 2 ottomans were the correct fabric color, but 1 ottoman had a lopsided cushion, the sofa and love seat were different shades of fabric along with several quality issues, crooked legs, loose bottom fabric covering, etc. we were also shorted pillows that came with the original order. Contacted Star, sent pics, they were to reorder, love seat, sofa and 1 ottoman. that was in May. Not til 13 June we were told a rep was coming out to our house with the original fabric swatch to determine if fabric was different. What, I though it was reordered??? The rep determined it was clearly a different shade from the swatch. Star then told us wrong color was ordered and thus a 2nd order was placed on 17 June for love seat and sofa only with ETA September, they had already reordered 1 ottoman. At one point we just asked for a refund but Star said no refunds on special orders. Finally received the replacement ottoman, and fabric is yet another shade of fabric. We now have 3 different shades of fabric on this furniture; that is incredibly unacceptable! We just recently received the 2nd order of sofa and love seat, and, again, wrong shade of fabric, delivery people could see the colors were different, even took my 1 original ottoman with the correct fabric color on my front porch, took pics to show the difference in the colors again, while on the phone with Star Furniture, and Star advised me to reject it, so I did. We do know colors of fabric can vary not coming from the same bolts, and that is exactly why we ordered love seat, sofa and ottomans at the very same time!!! At this point, Star Furniture wants to give us credit for all, come pick up original ordered furniture and leave us without, not willing to take charge and get resolved. We ordered this furniture in March, sold my furniture a couple days before delivery, and here it is September 2019 and we're about to be sitting on the floor. Everything has been a nightmare with this order, which was never anticipated, and now to call it quits and we go look for sofas again, and go without seating in our home!?! An easy fix for everyone, except us, the customer! We really like the style of this furniture, and would hope that Star Furniture and Craftmaster would make this right, but nope. Star Furniture has been very, very difficult thru this entire unbelievable experience, the customer service dept has been very unprofessional, flat out lied, misleading, non responsive. Sitting on the floor soon!!

Customer Service is a JOKE

Purchased furniture from them and my I add not inexpensive furniture at that. We had the stitching start to come loose, so we call so we call to schedule a technician to come out. Well that’s when the fun begins. They can schedule a day but no time until the day before. So when do you get the call at 4 pm the day before like nobody works , had careers to be there for the three hours time slot. Had to cancel bet of the late notice of time and conflicting appointments with work and guess what told that’s fine we can schedule you for next week and they will call the day before. Customer Service maybe look up the definition because your understanding of it is a JOKE!

Worst Customer Service Ever

This was my first time shopping here. We bought a very expensive "solid wood" table and were told that the protection plan covered absolutely everything. So we purchased that and bought two extra arm chairs for the table. We have had it less than a year now and last week my 4 year old son was sitting in one of the arm chairs with his arm resting on the arm rest and kind of leaning on it and the arm broke off. My 4 year old - nothing out of the ordinary, not climbing on it, not a grown adult, my 4 year old. I filed a claim and was told that broken wood is not covered under the protection plan. The protection plan is with a third party company so I called Star directly and spoke with customer service and a manager and they said they won't do anything about it. They could refund my protection plan money but I wouldn't have it any more and this is the SECOND time I have had something break on this table in the 11 months we have had it so I didn't want to do that. (the first time was when one of the stoppers came off of the bottom of a different chair and put gouges in my wood floor). Beware when purchasing furniture from here, I have always heard their furniture was quality and they had good service but I will never shop here again.

Unable to cancel online order - no *** or ability to speak with mgr

I placed an order online on 8/2 for a dresser. After being unable to have the item delivered timely I called to cancel the order. The representative was unable to complete this request online and stated it needed to be done by another department and that I would receive a call back. Four hours later after no return call I placed a second call. This time I was told that it was 'in process' and that I would get a return call. When I asked if it would be in the same day the representative was unable to state when the call back would occur or how long it would take to process an online order cancellation. I asked to speak with a manager and surprisingly one was unavailable. It should not take multiple phone calls and longer than a business day to cancel an online order. Suffice it to say I feel as though they are trying to avoid processing my refund.

Dragging Their Feet

I came in and purchased a floor model that would have to be transported from one store to the warehouse for pick up. It was ONE, SMALL item and it took them over two weeks just to transport something internally to the warehouse for me to come pick up. I had to keep calling to get an update and I was told a different date every time. Such horrible, slow service. Also their “customer agreement” when you purchase is ridiculous. They basically make you sign to say you accept the condition of the piece before you’ve even seen it! Not to mention that when I wanted to purchase this piece I had to beg the manager to sell it to me (trying to complete a set) and she didn’t want to sell me a floor model. Makes no sense because that should ultimately be the goal. I will never shop here again. I didn’t even get a discount for purchasing a floor model. Poor service. Slow service and only moderate quality pieces.
